The Girls of Summer are out to find Rapunzel and placement event. Everyone should bring a container and/or zip tie to place. Remember you will be responsible for maintaining your placed cache so water tight would be preferrable. I'm thinking since he opens at 8am, those renting meet at the rental place tween 8-830 am. The rest of us can meet at the starting point at 9:00 am. He'll also brief the renters, which we can all listen in on.


This is gonna be a different type of event for the GOS. We are gonna canoe/raft down the Brazos River, placing caches along the way until we get to Rapunzel, one of few caches in the area.
The cords posted are for the canoe rental and a good place for some to park. You will need to pay in advance and he does accept credit cards. I would suggest at the least a week so as to make sure he has enough canoes for the trip. The link to his page is (visit link) , anyone with their own canoes/rafts etc, we will meet at GC18BGX-Big Mac Hunger Buster- where the canoes will be dropped off also. We will than prepare to boat down the river, placing caches along the way til we get to Rapunzel. Also note that you need to park uphill before the sign posts as when the dam opens, your car will be submerged.

Bring plenty of water, sunscreen, bug repellent, snacks, and be prepared for a 5-6 hour trip down the Brazos. Also if you have your own life jacket, bring that too.

Afterwards, those of you parked at the canoe rental, the non renters would appreciate a ride back to their cars. Those of you not renting will be charged to park at the canoe rental so it is recommended you park at the starting point instead and get a ride back with a renter.

The Trimble note is put on there automatically when you "Mark as Found from the field. It has been doing it since I paid for the service almost a year ago. It is on most of my logs, but you will notice I usually take the time to write a good bit on every find - not just TFTC. I'm just too lazy to delete the automated Trimble thing.

Oh, and when you do select the "Mark as Found," it uploads it to gc.com in the "Access your field notes" section. One must go into that before it becomes public. I guess they could hit "Compose Log" on every one of them. That would be irritating.

Geek-Q is right, the e-mails were not sent thru the TXGA site, but via Geocaching.com. They have a means to deal with abusive e-mails and that is how it should have been handled.

The issue in general could have been discussed here had all personal information been scrubbed. Those that were curious enough could have found out the who and what of the situation.

The result of it all is now TXGA has lost a valuable member due to personal attacks that occurred on the forum that have even carried over to Facebook.

The member chose to leave after feeling I did not stand up for them on Facebook. The reason why I did not take a stand on FB was because it was not the proper venue for such activities, and as such TXGA forums is not the venue for personal issues between cachers.

Please do not post any e-mails received regarding this matter as they will be deleted.

Adam has already taken up the issue with Groundspeak so let's hear what they have to say.

Adam already posted on the Groundspeak forums and the general consensus was ignore the guy and move on.
